Ayal-Sew Dessye; Brief Bio:
• A graduate of Woizero Siheen Comprehensive High School, the renowned Haile Selassie I Military Academy and The distinguished French Special Military School, École Spéciale Militaire de Saint-Cyr.
• Studied Criminal Justice and International Relations in US
• As a young commissioned officer in the Ethiopian Armed Forces – especially in the famous “Flying Tigers’ of Ethiopian Airborne, served his country in theatres both in the East and North.
• Was one of the young army officers that organized repeated efforts aimed at removing the Derg and replacing it with a civilian administration.
• Although politically active since his high school years at Siheen, determined to see democratic change in his country, he has been directly involved in organized activism and engaged in the ongoing political struggle since the 1970s. Served in different capacities and positions of responsibility in the following organizations.
Ethiopian People’s Revolutionary Army (EPRA), Ethiopian Patriotic Democratic Organization (EPDO), Ethiopian National Democratic Front (ENDF), Ethiopian People’s Democratic Alliance – Founders (EPDA –Founders), Kittet Ethiopia, Free Ethiopian Soldiers Movement, Coalition of Ethiopian Democratic Forces (COEDF), Ethiopian People’s Federal Democratic Unity Party (Hibrehizb-Ethiopia) – 1992 – 2000, The Council Of Alternative Forces For Peace And Democracy In Ethiopia – North America Branch, United Ethiopian Democratic Forces (UEDF) and is currently serving as Chairman of the Ethiopian Democratic Hibrehizb Unity Movement (EDHUM) since the merger of EDU and Hibrehizb-Ethiopia in 2000.
He worked for Total Oil Company both in the Sudan and Kenya as department head, and worked briefly as a sub-contractor with World Food Program.
In addition to his full time political engagement, he is currently President of ADNY Company (consulting & business) and works in different business sectors.
